Pastries A-La-Carte: Pittsburgh's Premier Bakery for Sweet Treats

I would give them a thousand stars out of five if I could. Everything they make is delicious. We ordered a custom cake for my daughter's 16th birthday and it was amazingly decorated and delicious! Best bakery in the south hills by far!

Pastries à la Carte has been serving up the South Hills for quite some time, and it’s still one of my absolute favorites! This petite little storefront in Pleasant Hills features handmade pastries, cakes, savory items — and now, delicious coffee! They just launched their espresso bar, and it’s adorable. The fall drink menu is perfection — everything looked so good, but I went with a pumpkin iced latte topped with pumpkin cold foam. They even added little marshmallow ghosts and festive fall sprinkles! It paired perfectly with one of their pumpkin drop cookies — oh my gourd, these are amazing! They’ve got the cutest fall and Halloween treats, along with all their traditional favorites. If you haven’t stopped by Pastries à la Carte yet, you definitely should!

First time here, & hopefully I'll get to return someday. The lady that waited on us was very patient & helpful as I asked a lot of questions about what various things were. It was so hard to decide what to get cuz I wanted everything. The prices were a little bit higher than what I'm used to around where I live, but not over-the-top. If you get a chance to go, try it!

I placed an Order for a Cookie Tray on Monday (11/17) for Today (11/19) to take to a Doctor's Appointment @ Jefferson Hospital. I had No Idea where this place even was, but it was recommended to me. The Place is Impressively Clean & the Staff couldn't have been Friendlier or more Helpful. I actually Ordered & Paid for another Cookie Tray for 12/10. A very Special Shout out to "Jerry" for Helping me with placing the second Order. The Office Staff were very Happy with the Thanksgiving Inspired Cookie Tray & said they are familiar with Patries A-La-Cart & added they are the Best. I told them as I was leaving that I can see myself being a regular there. I look forward to picking up my Christmas Inspired Cookie Tray on 12/10.

Pastries A-La-Carte provided our wedding cake for our wedding at Bella Sera in Canonsburg PA on October 18th, 2025. From start to finish Pastries A-La-Carte were incredibly easy and fun to work with. From our cake tasting to the final product at our wedding, the entire team at Pastries A-La-Carte were amazing. Guests raved about our cake to us throughout the night and after. Our cake was beautiful and delicious. We cannot recommend Pastries A-La-Carte enough for your wedding desert!

I ordered my friend’s gender reveal cake from this bakery, and they seriously nailed it. I didn’t even give them a specific design. I just said the theme was hunting/buck or doe and told them the colors I wanted. They took it from there and somehow made the perfect cake without me having to explain anything. And the taste was absolutely amazing. So many people at the party kept coming up to me saying how good it was and asking where i got it from. It was super fresh, moist, and just really, really good. The whole process was super easy, and everything was ready on time, and the staff was so friendly.

This place is hands down legendary! I have gotten so many compliments on my cakes thanks to them. My wife's favorite is almond flavored cake with raspberry and they make the best. Was even able to get one just walking in without ordering ahead. You have to try the peach (you'll know it when you go), it's their specialty and it's heavenly. I was jumping for joy when I found out they sell fresh baked sourdough. I have been trying to find a place that would sell me some starter, and they were willing to sell me some quite cheap. It was named Patrick Star(ter) (shout out Brie!), which I found delightful. We ended up naming the next batch Bubble Boy, and now it's Breadpool

Since 2003 this has been my bakery of choice when a White Chocolate Raspberry Almond Torte was purchased for my birthday when I worked at Jefferson Regional Hospital. Since then that has been my cake for all celebrations and just because occasions. I have referred others and driven as little as 10min to 6 hours for the love of this cake and to visit the bakery... all for this cake this time we also got banana blueberry dog treats....Teddy and Millie highly recommend!
